Often just a single rogue root can girdle a tree just under the soil and cause trauma. The most common answer to the “What is wrong with my tree?” question is that it is buried too deep and there are underlying root problems. The prescription is a Root Crown Excavation where I use a machine that gently uses air to blow off the excess soil off of the roots for an inspection. The machine also pokes into the ground and aerates the soil allowing the roots to have access to more air and water.
